We are taken on a fascinating tour from the familiar suburbs of Herbert Park and her hometown of Tramore, to the beauty of Provence and Cyprus, and to exotic locations in the Caribbean. Her subjects are no less diverse including a dazzling field of sunflowers, cows, frost-covered thistles, the grandeur of whales and arresting portraits of human subjects.

The exhibition was introduced by Mary’s tutor of four years, photographer Herma Boyle. Ms. Boyle demonstrated how “My Eye” is Mary’s truly unique take on the world, capturing the unusual lines and forms to be found in the wide range of subjects and locations. The exhibition was then officially opened by Dr. Davida DelaHarpe Director of Health Intelligence in the HSE and a keen photographer herself. Mary’s photography challenges us to explore the word from a different perspective, claims Dr. DelaHarpe, and to see things and situations from a different angle. This is a trait developed through her training and practice as a psychologist.

What remains consistent throughout Mary’s photography is the unique and different view of the world that she presents. Photographs capture both the ordinary and extraordinary in the same fashion. Her photographs share what she sees of the world and challenges us to consider our own perspectives as well. The wide range of her work provides something to suit all tastes and moods. The gallery itself provides a wonderful showcase for the photographs and brilliant time was had by all who attended the official opening.

The exhibition is running at Clarkeville Art and Flowers Palmerstown D 20, 01 6258957, until the 4th of December and I have no doubt that it will be enjoyed by all who attend.

Mary’s work can also be viewed atwww.myeye.ie

— Eve O’Toole

My Eye – Photographs by Mary C Morrissey A photography exhibition featuring the works of Mary C Morrissey opened on 7th November 2008 at the Clarkeville Gallery in Palmerstown, D 20, 01 6258957.
